Being a 2016 World Championship sponsor is how you can personally help defray the cost of putting on this substantial event, and also help provide a meaningful purse for Rob and his opponent. The world champion, Rob Fahey, defends his title for the twelfth time.

Robert Leo Fahey was born on April 30, 1968, in Hobart, Tasmania. It was there, in Australia, that he became a proficient lawn tennis player, and began to excel at the more demanding sport of real tennis. He has been the world champion of real tennis since 1994, when he defeated Wayne Davies to win what is the oldest title in competitive sports.

In April, 2006, he matched the great Pierre Etchebaster’s feat of seven consecutive defenses, when he defeated American Tim Chisholm. Tim had challenged the previous two times that Rob defended his title. Rob’s next defense, in May, 2008, at the Fountainebleau Palace in France, was the first time that young Camden Riviere challenged for the title. Rob broke the Etchebaster record, winning seven sets to five. In both 2010 and 2012, Rob’s title was challenged for by Steve Virgona. Rob defeated Steve in both years, maintaining his world champion title for the ninth and tenth time.

Rob won his eleventh and most recent challenge to his title in May, 2014, at the Royal Melbourne Tennis Club, when he defeated Camden Riviere, of Aiken, South Carolina, seven sets to three.

Playing with Steve Virgona, Rob has won the world doubles real tennis championship in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, and 2011.

Rob is married to Claire Vigrass, the current women’s real tennis champion.
